Valtar Transporte

Valtar Transporte, an express logistics company in Germany (founded 1999) and one of Europe's leading transport suppliers to the automotive industry, had outgrown its processes. They came to us to digitise and centralise their operations in software: map the existing workflows into proper data models, work out where off-the-shelf tools fit, build a custom system for the core logistics workflow, upgrade their wider infrastructure, and run reliable hosting with ongoing support.

We started by abstracting Valtar's existing workflows into data structures and models, then built a custom Rails platform around them. It holds a database of clients and partners, each with their own login; generates transport documents automatically (CMR waybills, transportation orders, invoices); and handles client quotation requests across multiple vehicle types, multi-pickup and drop-off, and pre-defined addresses. Accepted quotes convert into transport orders assigned to Valtar's own vehicles or partners. The platform also tracks revenue and cost with alerts for overdue receivables and upcoming payables, calculates distance and routes for pricing and timing, shows real-time vehicle tracking with embedded GPS links, insurance status and driver contact details, and enforces a permissions system with distinct administrative roles such as client-only and transport-only administrators. Alongside the platform, we upgraded the marketing website and email system and set up cost-effective hosting.

The platform is used daily by the Valtar Transporte team. More than 1,000 jobs have been fulfilled through it, with 250 partner transport companies fulfilling orders and 200 clients logging in. Over EUR 600,000 in invoices have been created and tracked in the platform. We also upgraded the company's wider infrastructure and run hosting, monitoring and ongoing support.
