Edyn
A massively multiplayer real-time strategy game on Steam, with distributed per-world hosting.

The problem
EDYN was envisioned as a real-time strategy game that paired strong gameplay mechanics with a distinctive, hand-crafted world. The brief was to deliver both the technical depth and the artistic vision without compromising either.
What we built
We partnered with visual artists for the art direction whilst our team built the core software. The result is a multiplayer RTS on Steam and edyn.world: 8 customisable factions, faction settlements across 8 biomes with 10 buildings each, upgrade stages and 50 unit cards, and a world map with room for almost 10,000 settlements. We added weekly speed and classic worlds, a shop and battle pass, complex battle and alliance systems, and distributed independent hosting per world. No pay-to-win or catch-up mechanics.
The outcome
EDYN is live on Steam as a multiplayer RTS, with distributed hosting that supports thousands of simultaneous players and a new world created weekly (speed worlds finish in a week, classic worlds run up to six). We ran a series of special launch events in the first three months: Thor's World, Bad Santa's World, King of the Hill and Valentine's Day.
“Each world is independently hosted on its own servers, so we can run thousands of players at once without a hitch.”
