Background
Klangverso is a U.S. based startup that approached us with a simple idea: what if we use AI to summarize newspapers and make them consumable as an audio on a short commute to work.
Product Description
Over the course of 3 months, we worked with Klangverso to bring their idea to life. This includes experimenting with the AI models and selecting best price/quality fits, preparing a text-to-speech prototype, and refining the billing models. At the end of the process, Klangverso now has a product that they can test the market with!
Platform Functionality

Member Portal and Billing
Users create an account in order to use Klangverso's services. While they can test the product for free, the limits are set up in such a way that any production usage requires going on a paid plan. We use Stripe for recurring billing and added pro-rata upgrades and downgrades.

Newspaper Upload and Summarize
The first step is The Summarizer. Starting from a newspaper (typically 32 pages or more) PDF, we first convert this PDF into text. This is done using either classic OCR (inexpensive) or, when not possible, AI (higher cost and time). The end result is a text that is feed to an LLM for summarization.

Audio Transformation
The summary is then transformed into audio. This is done using a set of voices and pitch settings using the ElevenLabs API. The audio can be listened to within the platform.

Download and Library
The resulting summaries and audios can be downloaded to computers / phone or kept in the Klangverso library for reference.
