Shipmento is an Express Logistics company based in Germany. The company performs logistics services across Europe using two modes of transportation: express and economic.

Customers (either individuals or other businesses) fill in their order using the online quotation system. Given a start and an end place, we can immediately calculate the distance, the availability of the various services, and therefore an initial cost.

As we learn more about the transport (multiple stops, size of load, additional services) we update the time and cost estimation. The quotation procedure ends with a pre-authorized card or an invoice (for recurring customers), and we turn our attention towards order tracking.

Platform Functionality

The following functionality has been developed as part of the Shipmento product:

Quotation System

Given a start and end place, dynamically calculate the price. Recalculate as more information is available (size, multiple stops, additional services).

Transportation Documents

Automatic generation of invoices and other transporation documents.

Economy / Express

We support multiple transporation models, including express (single load) and economic (co-loading at fixed time).

Vehicle Types

We support multiple vehicle types, dynamically chosing the right one for the load.

Online Payments

To confirm the order, customers perform payment via credit card or invoices (only available for established customers).

Additional Services

Customers can book a range of additional services, including help with loading or unloading, or special insurance.

Order Tracking

Once an order is confirmed, track it across the various stages from pick up to delivery. Customers are automatically notified of exceptions.

Permissions System

Multiple administrative user types to reflect strict permissioning including client-only administrators, transport-only administrator.
